Oh no!

Oh dear, I seem to have disappeared, I have abandoned my blog because I have a never ending pile of work and my time management leaves an awful lot to be desired...

Hopefully I'll find plenty of time over the christmas holidays to catch up with my blog, I've got plenty of outfit posts lined up (well, in my mind at least) as I don't seem to have gone even a week without a new addition to my wardrobe...!

Anyway, we have a terribly spooky little cellar in our house, and on halloween I decided to dress up as Wednesday Addams and venture down there...

(The dress is a lovely little black velvet one which I stitched the lace to, you can't see very well in this picture!)

Pretty as a Picture

Here is a lovely photograph I found in the antique shop, it looked just perfect in this sweet little frame edged with gold, you can't see it very clearly because of the effect I've used on the picture though..I haven't managed to post anything lately because I've been quite busy what with moving back to university for my 2nd year, but hopefully I'll get chance to post more regularly once I've gotten settled!

Roll up, roll up!

A sneaky peak of what will be for sale in my Etsy shop, once I finally get it all up and running!

Toast. Yum.

I like the kind you eat for breakfast with strawberry jam or home-made marmalade, or lunch with butter and scrambled eggs on top, I also like this kind of Toast which is inedible but equally as yummy...

I went to see '500 Days of Summer' on Friday, I loved the two leads (Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and even if it doesn't seem like your cup of tea, it might leave you pleasantly suprised (as it did my generic-rom-com hating friend)
The rose-tinted specs were removed after a while, meaning the outcome wasn't quite as sickly sweet as I had first expected...What was nice, was that it told the truth about relationships and even though poor old Joe didn't get his dream-girl, there was another one waiting for him anyway, so happily, it wasn't all doom and gloom! Zooey Deschanel's outfits were also rather nice...so was her hair, and her appartment and just her in general!

Home Sweet Home

I'm back from my holiday now and I had such a lovely time, I didn't want to leave!

It soo nice to spend some time with my family, and Costa Rica was an amazing place to visit, I definitely want to go back there and explore by myself some day...
Although it was the wet season, we didn't get drenched more than a couple of times (but when it rained, it rained!) so I suppose we must have been quite lucky with the weather, and the fact that it was the rainy season meant that we saw heaps of wildlife as the forest is so lush and green around that time of year. I took far too many pictures (I had a new memory card and was intent on filling it!) but needless to say half of them were a bit rubbish, so I've just picked a few nice ones for the blog :)

Hasta luego chicas!

Knit one, pearl one...

Lovely, cosy looking cardi from Topshop's 'Highland Fling' collection. I like the dusky pink colour. It also reminds me of The Edge of Love quite a lot, so at the moment, I'm thinking about it with knee socks, a tea dress and my navy wellies...!

Noa Noa

It's raining outside and I've just been on another fantasy shopping trip, ie. adding lots of pretty clothes to my virtual basket and pretending that I could actually afford to click 'proceed to checkout' afterwards...ahhh...Anyway, I thought the photographs from Noa Noa's Autumn/Winter 09 Lookbook were just lovely and needed sharing. (Oh, and if you needed any inspiration for layering pieces this winter, then look no further!)

Liberty Love ♥

Ah-ha! I have confirmation that the dress I got from the jumble sale and the floral skirt I found in the charity shop last week are indeed Liberty!

I was wearing the dress (the one in the prettiest, brightest print, which I have now altered) while out shopping in York, when I was stopped and asked by a lady in her 50's where I had bought it. When I told her, she laughed and said I had picked up a bargin because she had bought the same fabric when she had worked at the Liberty store when it was open in York.
Imagine what I could find if I actually knew what I was looking for, rather than just raking up random bits that catch my eye...

I'm sorry if I sound a bit smug, but I just couldn't believe my luck, especially when I came across this belted shirt dress by Theory for £215...in the exact same fabric!

(I took the polaroid out of a taxi window last summer)

A little bird told me about...

After reading this name in a couple of magazines, and then again on one of my favourite blogs, I decided to see what Wren was about for myself and followed the link I had found to the site...Needless to say, I was delighted by what I found. The clothes are just so beautiful, combining simplicity with subtle details, and sweet nostalgic influences with clean-cut lines and classic pieces and shapes, I love love love their whole collection! I like the bright mustard tights paired with more subdued primary shades, the plaid, the patent pumps, the matte black tights, the cardigans...everything really!

I'm not sure where our summer disappeared to, but now I don't feel quite so sulky about the on-set of autumn in a couple of months!

Totally addicted to...

Floral print! I just can't help myself! Here's another new dress I got from a vintage shop in York, I'll do an outfit post sometime soon because it's got the sweetest peter-pan collar.

I must however, make a concious effort to work some more casual pieces into my wardrobe. I could start with a couple of t-shirts. I have blouses, but not actual t-shirts...well, I do have a few basics, but these ones from Urban Outfitters are perfect because I can't bear to be in anything too plain, and they always have some with pretty motifs and details.

Monday 20 July 2009

Here is the little cat I drew today, I was quite pleased with him, so I thought I'd post his picture on here :) I used to hate working with soft pastel, but i used a cotton bud to neaten this up a bit after I had finished and it turned out to be
quite a good little trick!

Oh, I also wanted to post a picture of this adorable purse I got in Accessorize (like the earrings, in the sale!) the other week, I've liked the various union jack printed tops and totes that appeared in Topshop and Boden this summer but I felt this little purse was just right for me because it was made from a patchwork of my favourite type of print...floral! hehe..

Ok, last thing...Why oh why has it taken me so long to discover this new type of Vaseline?! Its so yummy smelling and gives your lips a nice pinky tint. I love it!

...Voila!

This is the actual banner that I ended up using. It's less fussy and it fits the dimensions of the little slot better too!
I did some drawings today in an attempt to alleviate the boredom of being stuck at home alone, and they turned out to be rather sweet in the end, so I'll take some pictures of them later on!

Under construction...!

I'm hoping to set up my Etsy shop soon, which is exciting, but also a little nerve wracking as for someone with such terrible organisational skills, there seems an awful lot to think about!

Anyway, here's a first attempt at a little banner I made on flickr...

What's Up Pussy Cat?

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea

In a beautiful pea-green boat,

They took some honey, and plenty of money,

Wrapped up in a five-pound note.

The Owl looked up to the stars above,

And sang to a small guitar,

'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,

What a beautiful Pussy you are,

You are, you are!

What a beautiful Pussy you are!'

This is my cat, her name is Lulu :)

I can't help but think I probably need a head of wild, wavy hair to carry off these beauties (which are almost brushing my shoulders) but for 1/2 price in the Accessorize sale, I couldn't just leave them hanging there...!

Pretty Things ♥

Another fairly pointless post...just some lovely floral fabric I found in the charity shop, the ruffley neck detail on one of my jumble sale dresses and some perfect little brogues I picked up in New Look (of all places!) for £15, success!

I've being feeling a little uninspired recently and wondered if there's much point in keeping this blog if I can't even be bothered to post regularly, but I have been busy altering some things for my future Etsy store and I took pictures the other day too, so I've got a few ideas for some more interesting posts now.

lovely lovey and so comfy!

Dresses

I found these two beauties at the last jumble sale I went to, I just love both of the prints, although I'm going to have to shorten them a little bit! Apart from that, they're perfect, just the kind of thing I dreamt of finding...(I got the bags from the sale too!)

Tuesday 16 June 2009

Rain, rain, go away...

I was so sure it was going to be a lovely day yesterday, but then the black clouds began to gather and around lunch time, i was doomed to be stranded inside for the rest of the day while it rained cats and dogs outside :(

Anyway, it gave me a chance to give my room a bit of a tidy. It looks quite cosy here, but the other side of the room is still in chaos as I brought everything back home from uni for summer this time, and realised that there isn't enough space for my jumble anymore!

I found some sweet old photos during my sort-out too, I think I bought them from a junk shop for a few pence a while ago....Here are a couple of them, my camera ran out of charge after these two pictures though.

I'm going back to the delicatessen where I used to work tomorrow, which is most definitley a good thing as in the long run, it will minimise both boredom and poverty :)
